Martin Israel

Martin was educated at the City of London School and then obtained a diploma in Accountancy from City of London Polytechnic. In 1974 he entered Articles with Josolyne Layton-Bennett, which subsequently merged with Arthur Young.

After joining BDO Stoy Hayward in 1985, he became a partner in 1987, working with many growing entrepreneurial clients on audit, taxation, and transactional matters. He specialised in increasing the value of owner-managed businesses, assisting in their growth challenges and, often, helping to facilitate their eventual sale.

In 2008, Martin joined Crowe Clark Whitehill to head up the London Office’s activities of services to small & medium-sized enterprises and Business Solutions. In this position, he worked with individuals and their families to best serve their wealth and business interests by implementing various financial and taxation strategies, as well as corporate transactions.

In 2018, Martin stood down as Senior Equity partner at Crowe to establish a financial and business consultancy and advise a broad range of commercial enterprises in a variety of industries from start-ups to companies aspiring to grow.

Martin has 40 years’ experience offering advice to entrepreneurial clients throughout the UK, as well as abroad, on a wide variety of financial and business issues. His vast experience enables him to contribute to practical and sensible commercial solutions with an emphasis on tax efficiency. He liaises with both owners and Board members to meet the aspirations of concerned parties, which often involve navigating issues both administrative and personal.

Martin is always on call to deal with problems with a sensitive, prompt and proactive approach, always remaining mindful of his clients’ personal and commercial goals.

Martin is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) and a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Basketmakers.

He is also the trustee or treasurer of five charities.

In addition to spending time with his wife and family, Martin can be found watching rugby and making the most of his memberships at Lord’s and The Oval.
